It is with sadness and shock that I read of Rob Chase’s passing in the San Diego Union-Tribune. Up until recent years, I would often visit my sister, Janet and Martin Schorer, who lived down the street from Rob at 336 Chicks Crossing Road. We dropped in to visit Rob on one occasion and I recall him coming down to the old Gowen homestead, too, sitting in the kitchen and all of us having a good gab session. (Ruth Gowen was my aunt).
Although it was only on a few occasions that I had the pleasure of meeting, Rob, I do remember him as a warm and gentle guy. As is often the case, one discovers in an Obituary a fact about the deceased, and in this case, his love of cats. I, too, am a cat lover, and cherish my Buddha.
Since Rob’s obituary was in the San Diego newspaper, I assume that he had many friends in this area. I have lived in San Diego since 1963. FYI, both Janet and Martin now reside at Huntington Common in Kennebunk. I am sure they have been made aware of Rob’s passing, but I will confirm that they know because both Janet and Martin thought of Rob as one of their best neighbors.
